This is easily the coolest Famicom game I have. Heck, maybe the coolest thing I have overall.

What I didn't know when I agreed to buy it was that it was sealed.

I badly want to play it but I'm also scared to open it!

As awesome as BNIB is - goddam I just wanna play! Have you ever broke a seal before?

On an FDS game? No. I think it's been easy for me to hold off on this one as I don't even have an FDS to play it on yet. For most of my cart-based retro stuff I prefer cart only as it's much cheaper, takes up less space, and I don't have to worry about ruining a package haha. I've bought sealed copies of games to play in the past, though. I recently actively sought out a sealed copy of Metroid Prime for the GCN specifically to open and play. That's not quite as expensive as some stuff, but still. As long as the cost isn't too crazy I'd be fine buying something new and opening it to play.

Nice repro, Toneman. I saw a gameplay video of that hack, and it seems respectably difficult. Here is what I've gotten recently.

Ninja Ryukenden
Ninja Ryukenden II
Ninja Crusaders Ryuga

And at long last, I finally got my two greatest wants. Thanks to Manuel for Wanpaku Kokkun No Gourmet World, thanks to StJackie for Tokkyu Shirei Solbrain. I was beginning to think I'd never get these two CIB.

So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

damn nightstar they are some sexy cib games would love a solbrain cib such a good game and i love the tacky suit on the cover.

Nightstar699

Hey thanks XiTaU, yeah Solbrain is one of my favorite games. I also have its NES counterpart, Shatterhand, and the major difference between them is the fact that Area C is a completely different level in Shatterhand. I prefer the Area C in Solbrain, mainly due to its music and stage background.

I like the Japonisme of Solbrain, but I think I like Shatterhand more actually as the true version of what the developers wanted to do.

Nightstar that is one nice CIB, is it new?  St.Jackie sorted me out with a new Ninja Gaiden 2 once.

I also believe that Shatterhand was intended to be the original game, despite Solbrain being released first. What mainly suggests this to me is the fact that the final boss' power suit is similar to the one worn by the protagonist in Shatterhand.

It wasn't sold specifically as new, but I think it very well could be, as the condition of it is great, and the cartridge was still sealed in its baggie.

There was a Shatterhand/Solbrain interview somewhere with the developers, that said they made Shatterhand and picthed it, but the publisher wanted to base it on Solbrain and ship it as a licensed game.
That one level didn't work so they changed it, or something along those lines.  When it came to porting it in the US, they got to revert back to Shatterhand as Solbrain was unheard of, which was great.

I actually really like the whole Metal Heroes/tokusatsu theme, but it's definitely not for everybody. PM coming your way in a minute.

Oh don't get me wrong, I like it too (watched some on YouTube, reminds me of BubbleGum Crisis and others), I meant it was great that the game got to go back to the developer's original vision.  So 80s like Power Blade, and that jacket!!
