Yes you can try to change only the regulator, but if i were you i would try first with another ac adapter, maybe you only fried that piece with the over-voltage, and the console may be OK. Try any adapter with similar characteristics, you could make the console work even with a lower voltage adapter, but check out the polarity that is the most important thing. I would say that 5v 500mAh may work but try to get one with the most similar characteristics to the original adapter.

If it does not work change the regulator, it should not be very hard to do, and it's the part that for sure got the worst part.

I hope you could repair it !  ;D

Hmm... I might try this. I just assumed I had fried the NOAC since no there was no fuse or anything blown. Are there any more tech saavy members on the forum that can confirm this might work?

Xious

That depends on what voltage it runs on naturally, and if anything is stepping that down, say to 3.3V. I'd say that without any power regulation, the chances that something is damaged are strong, assuming that the AC-Adapter was the source of your trouble.

Try it with the PSU from your FC (or another clone) and see if it behaves.  :bomb:

BasiliskFang

does this site actually have any good clone games?

manuel

Well, they have some good games, but I hear the cartridges are of rather poor quality.

I can vouch for the carts being very low quality. Like... "I'm gonna break it putting it in the console" low quality.

Same here. From what I've noticed, newer carts tend to be made of cheaper plastic. :redcart:

I got four of them, the build quality is atrocious.  But the "hero" cart is pretty good, feels solid enough and has maybe eight different Kunio games on it.  That was a neat buy.  It stays in my "good" pile, the other three are with the crap.

Kiddo

Three of the games I received actually came with cracked casings.

But some of those carts have nice games, so if your going to get them just to play them I'd say they are worth it, but collection wise I'd invest in something else.

Could you post the list of the games and their codes here, please?:

I did 4 weeks ago  :D

No I haven't tried repairing it yet. I'm too backed up with essays and oncoming tests to do anything but read and write for the last few days. Will try and repair it when all this school madness is behind me.

myfreelog

Yup, i thought those carts were new :D

The quality of the plastic is very poor, but not only that, sometimes you receive a cartridge that is not what you bought. I wanted to buy the one with tmnt 2 but i think i wont do it.

My grey carts new and very high quality, they were made for Turkey market.I dont have any Famiclone which is selling on volumerates, but i think that NOAC Micro Genius consoles better.Still much worse than old Micro Genius consoles like IQ-501 or 502.

manuel

Yes, those grey carts do look much better.
But how do they compare in price?

pirate

Im not a Chinese wholesaler like volumerates or ndcardsale,my price much higher,i buy only a few cards from retail stores. Also you know what you buy.
There is no chance for 3.00 USD shipped price,if i buy about a thousand cards, absolutely price would be much lower than my current price.
