What will digital tv mean for RF game systems??

Ok so here in Australia they are switching off the analogue tv signal stuff here soon and i was wondering will this have any effect on the game consoles that run off an RF box connected to the tv Antennae? 

I know this might sound like a pretty stupid question but you never learn if you don't ask

Without analog television in the airwaves there will be less interference and your RF systems will actually look better, unfortunately this benefit may already be offset by all the modern gadgets we've got around (computers, cell phones, WiFi, etc). I live in a big city and it's nearly impossible for me to get clear RF reception (antenna or video game) due to all the electromagnetic spectrum pollution of the modern age, in-house and external. On the other hand, my digital converter box works wonders with a tiny 12.5 cm antenna, crystal clear picture and stuff.

Here we've got a few more years of simulcast but I do think I'll see an improvement in my Atari 2600's picture quality the day analog television goes bye-bye.

I live in the suburbs in an almost semi-rural area so i might have less of an interference issue even though any time it rains we loose half the digital channels and thats usually the stuff that keeps my little man happy.
I found one of my old atari 2600's the other day and it's all rusted inside Lucky i have another one laying about.

Also wondering if i can use the LCD tv for the famicom or will it just laugh at me and tell me to put the xbox back on?

One of my friends is in the same situation as you, a small UHF rooftop antenna did the trick for him.

You can, but depending on your particular TV set and your expectations you might find the scaling and/or processing lag objectionable.

I may have to test it out on the lcd as its the only place i have the antennae socket so i will have to throw the hubby out for a day to try it!

I personally think that vintage consoles look horrible on modern displays. I won't run on anything that isn't a CRT, and I prefer very specific monitors. I advise saving at least one (nice) CRT-based display for your systems...

I have 3 decent sized CRT teevs sitting around doing alot of not much. I currently have one set up for testing my consoles in my son's room well when he's a bit older it will be his room. I might test a superfamicom on the LCD but my famicom seems to be dead so i'm possibly going to use one of my NES's as an organ donor.
