Do you know who owns this, and if he is on FW?

The 'Santen' brand is probably from Taiwan, rather than HK. I wouldn't mid having one to compare internally. It is very unusual to see a clone with a microphone. :bomb:

That's a clone to be sure, but wow, found it on the curb? Even if that stuff is completely broken, I'm very jealous.

NintendoKing

I like how he is constantly complaining about something that he found on a curb for free, seriously. I would be over excited and instantly begin testing them instead of being a complaining baby.

I have to wonder about finding it thusly, both as fact (vs. exaggeration) and regarding the ethical implications, if it indeed was a fact (e.g. was it rubbish, or was it stowed there).

I do still desire to locate one of those systems. I wouldn't mind the disks as well, but they are nowhere near s interesting as the hardware (to me). The Zelda disk is intriguing though, as it is a clear example of high-quality piracy in Taiwan and HK that is not often seen.  I think that almost every game cassette is a pirate, if nt all of them. One that he identified as legitimate (because of the back label) is a counterfeit. The 'Mach Rider' and 'Mah Jong' are both genuine.

This was back in the era where counterfeiters actually made things look as close to the real article as was possible. I have to give them credit there, as hey did a fairly nice job about it. :bomb:

Its possible that he stole it, actually as I have left boxes near curbs before without the intent of trashing. Also in my city digging through other peoples trash or taking things from their curb is considered theft.

That's why you go up to your neighbor's door, knock, and ask "Hey, that box full of game systems you left out here, are you throwing those away?" They could have easily been setting up for a yard sale.

No one would leave a box of stuff like this outside their house, except maybe an angry boyfriend/girlfriend. Maybe someone was caught cheating.  :gamer:

He doesn't mention if anything else was out on the curb.

Clone, but very good one. I wonder, what's inside  ??? Hand writing definately chinese, not japanese. And couple of original carts.
About leaving box outside - it's normal to leave something to get rid off it. Sometimes people can write on the box/cardboard "FREE" or "TAKE AWAY".

The first video where he shows the instruction manual and matches the serial....

The instruction manual is in Japanese. It has hiragana mixed in with the kanji. Chinese would be straight kanji. Drive seems legit at least.

The first few carts I see are straight up chinese.

That is because there is no FDS clone; the cost would hev been somewhat prohibitive, and by the time the FDS was out, the FC was being sold (genuine models) in most Asian markets, so the clone makers didn't have the initial foothold.  :bomb:

satoshi_matrix

plus the FDS was never really all that successful. It wasn't a complete flop, but its limitations and cost never allowed it to truly take off in the way Nintendo had intended. In the end it was surpassed by the almighty  :redcart:

UglyJoe

Nintendo released FDS games from '86 to '92.  I'd say a 6 year life cycle is pretty successful, especially for an add-on.

Damn it i wish i found a box like this... but i do not have that luck  ;D
I am back everyone :)

Oh I'm well aware of what lead to the developed of the FDS and what killed it off;

It's simply factual that the FDS was a flop. I wish it didn't use a propriety format, or else I bet we'd see FDS homebrew development nowadays.
