Windows Explorer has been sorting files incorrectly since Windows XP!

I actually find that 'the wrong way' way makes more sense..

But things get freakin' goofy when you have leading zeros:



"0e" comes before "02", but "2" comes before "e"?  It's not consistent.  (I know why it's doing this, but it's mixing 'literal' and 'intuitive' sorting with unhelpful results).

And if you want a list of all the files that begin with a zero? Good luck with that, since it'll scatter them all over the place:



And, as was my case yesterday, when you have a bunch of files with names that are MD5 hashes, the results look pretty much random (although they're not).

The most annoying part is that you can't turn this off without using the group policies manager or a registry hack.

I learned, just now, that one of my favourite 8-bit musicians, that popped up on my Youtube feed, is none other than Jedi Questmaster!  I should have recognised the avatar but I honestly thought that was hair :S
