Skype doesn't like the built in webcam on my laptop nor my fuji camera hooked up to the laptop as a webcam :(
I also learnt that my friend is much skinnier than i thought he was

manuel

Have you tried first uninstalling and then reinstalling skype and the camera drivers?

Usually skype isn't so picky. Until now it recognized every camera I tried.

I indeed got it sorted by installing a new version of skype!
I also learned that the friend i was skyping with is deceptively hotsauce!!

Straight from the horse's mouth: You can tell the general age of a horse by it's teeth. Horse racing gamblers would inspect the horse's teeth to make sure that the age was accurately stated on the betting forms to investigate if the race was rigged.

A common related saying:
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth: Don't be ungrateful when you receive a gift. (The horse was free, so don't nitpick about the age)

manuel

I knew that since I was a kid.  ;D It probably helped that we had horses.  :)

That's one of those idioms that doesn't make much sense if you don't know the story behind it. Case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN8T7LXdBYU

"I would look at the gift horse mouth, maybe... I just stay 5 meter away from the gift horse mouth".

LOL, too funny.

You may be kicking back a few beers with buddies and someone says "Bottoms Up"!
We usually hold our drinks up and take a nice gulp. But where does this idiom come from?

In England in the 16th century sailors for the king's navy were recruited by bribing them to join up with a coin (a shilling). Once they accepted the coin, they were committed. Rather than leave it to chance the recruiters would buy the targeted man a glass of beer, and would drop the shilling into it before giving him the drink. Once he'd drunk the beer the shilling was his - and he'd joined the navy.

In order to avoid being duped in this way, the tavern's pewter tankards were made with a glass bottom. If a stranger stood you a drink you could see whether there was a shilling in it before you drank, simply by lifting the bottom of the glass up above your head. Being in the navy was not a pleasant way of life, so to reassure your drinking companion that you were genuine you'd invite him to raise his glass "bottom up".

Often the said drinkers that didn't notice the coin and passed out after drinking were dragged onto a sailboat and would awake to their new career. They would commonly proclaim that they were "shanghaied".

Shanghai:
1. To kidnap (a man) for compulsory service aboard a ship, especially after drugging him.
2. To induce or compel (someone) to do something, especially by fraud or force

If you press F5 too many times rapidly in gmail they suspend your account for one hour, or more.
This is so depressing.
As if the phone company would shut off my phone for calling too much.
How should I communicate with colleagues and customers now?

Edit:
Oh, already back up again. They only scared me by saying it would take an hour.  :D

Why would you do that in the first place? Gmail refreshes automatically every few minutes. No need to bash the F5 button.

I learned last night that i could trade pokemon from the japanese pokemon green to english pokemon red but missingo was a bad choice

nintendodork

...you can't though. The 1st generation games don't have the data for other languages programmed into them. It just results in an error in trading.
