Huh. I've never considered SSB to be a fighting game. Good game nonetheless.

Fighting games are my favorite genre... I'd have to say my personal favorites are:
1. Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Console version)
2. Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
3. Arcana Heart
4. Samurai Shodown
5. Garou: Mark of the Wolves
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Drakon

all arcade:

samurai shodown 4
street fighter alpha 3
marvel vs capcom 1
vampire savior
street fighter 2 champion edition
waku waku 7
rival schools

console:

street fighter 3 third strike (ps2 version is just fine to me)

Algo Fonix

The King of Fighters '98: Ultimate Match for sure.

Parodius Duh

Ninja Master's

followed by Marvel vs. Capcom 2

and then SNK vs. Capcom (because you can be Athena and Red Arremer!)

Oh my, someone else who knows there was a Marvel Vs. Capcom 1? How delightful! Most people think the series started with MvC2. >.>

I own a phoenixed cps2 pcb.  I remember first discovering mvc1 on a ferry back in 1998 or whenever it was new and I loved the fact that I mashed random buttons and cool sh#t would happen.  The artwork is some of the best I've ever seen.  Really the only thing I don't like about it is some of the infinite combo exploits and the control 2 guys at one time mode.  As soon as I started collecting arcade pcbs I HAD to get a copy.  It's easily one of the most fun fighting games of all time.

I also remember playing street fighter 2 champion edition like CRAZY in the arcade even though I was only 11 / 12 years old.  Let's say I naturally had good taste as a kid even though I couldn't really play these games I knew they were pure awesome and would dump all of my money into them.

Also...what's with people saying stuff like "sf2" and "mvc"?  There's like 50 different versions of sf2 and a few different mvcs....Could you guys be more specific?
