I don't know if it's just me, but I enjoy the suspense of seeing a game for the first time on actual hardware. :-\

That game looks like a table version of Connect Four. :D

Anyway, is Fushigi no Umi no Nadia an obscure &/or under appreciated, &/or hidden gem? ??? Because I like that one. :-[

My choice would be Otaku no Seiza: An Adventure in the Otaku Galaxy

An excellent companion piece to Mother/Earthbound, if only it would get translated (along with the PC Engine version). I love the monster designs.

Uchu Keibi tai Space defence force.  Actually I don`t know if it is under appreciated or if it already has some mass following, but its quite good.

Good call. It's a beautiful game that doesn't get the appreciation it deserves outside of the hardcore shmup community. Games like Gunnac, Crisis Force, Recca, etc always seem steal the limelight and praise.

I sincerely think that Hogan's Alley is an under-appreciated gem.  It's all about the score attack and 2nd mode.  The first mode aint all that and is mroe like a training mode.  Like I've said before, drinking transforms this game into a masterpiece as the game gets harder while you're reactions and impulses turn against you.  People talk about Duck Hunt (accuracy) and Wild Gunman (speed), but Hogan's Alley combines both of those and makes the most of the hardware - palette swaps and shares arre actually a built in factor of the game for once and the pacing is excellent.  It remains my favourite game on the system!

Just picked up a totally obscure platformer, based upon a really weird and even more obscure anime, Parasol Henbee! I have not seen this cart for sale quite often but I dont think its that rare, its definitely uncommon but Im sure with a little searching you can find a copy for a decent price, for some reason the one copy buy it now on ebay is like $47 bucks...   >:(

Anyway, I highly suggest this one for platformer fans, its nice and colorful and gets pretty challenging later on in the game. Check out some gameplay:

Hmm, looks interesting but I can tell I'd have hated it back in the day.  Odd that they put a variety of animatons on the enemies, but left the player character with the bare bones poor animations you'd expect from a beta...
Coming from an anime, such a rich source material for character animation  that's not a good sense of priority!

Jongbou; the graphics are a bit of an eye strain but the game itself is an interesting mix of Arkanoid and mahjong. :)

Hey, nice! I actually have a CIB copy of that one. It's definitely an alright game. Didn't put too much time into it yet, but I picked up a couple years ago.

We could always translate words from Thai to English thanks to the help of an anthropomorphized female chicken version of Ronald McDonald. I don't know if it's underappreciated or a hidden gem, but I sure am craving some McNuggets right about now.
