I have to ask something of you L___E___T; Will you forgive me?
I have been through a lot  in life since my last post on this forum, which i am sure was probably offending / rude sounding to you... I do regret coming on as being so rude, and same goes for anyone else who i may have offended in any of my posts so far. I really do not wish to go into details of exactly what i have been going through, and i know i have no excuse for being cold or rude to any user. :(

Let' s just say I'm totally confused - when or what were you apparently rude about?  Are you ok?  This is news to me..

The only posts I see are ones about programming in BASIC, and that was back in June(?).  Is there something in there you said that you shouldn't have?

I have a minor in Computer Science, so let's just say I know how programming can get under your skin  :fire:  I actually aced the C++ "gateway" course in school, so if you have any entry-level questions on object-oriented programming, I can rummage around in my brain to see what I remember.  I call it a gateway course because I think roughly half the people failed the class and you need it as a prerequisite to go any further in the CS degree (major or minor).

Have you got experience in coding up NES games?

check my thread "data recorder tape images", last few posts.
you had got a book/tape combo, and where going to put the recording of the tape online...
Right around that time, me life pretty much bottomed out on me. I came back more than a month later, still no recording of the tape to be seen, and i got a little nippy sounding towards you.. (at least, looking back now, it seemed nippy of me..)
So, i seem to have my life aimed back towards a reasonably safer direction now.
p.s. So any chance of sending the tape to 80'sfreak or uglyjoe? maybe one of them could do it for you?

Not directly, no.  I did some Assembly programming as part of the curriculum, which has a similar feel to NES coding, but that's all the more I got into programming anything older than C++ in college.  In high school, I learned quite a bit of structured (procedural) style programming in Pascal, which is a great language to learn some of the base concepts in.  It's a surefire step up from BASIC, but not quite as heavy as diving right into object oriented programming and its many derivatives.

By the way, my final project in high school was programming an ASCII version of Pac-man.  It worked pretty well by the time I was done with it   ;D

That said, pretty much anyone learning programming outside of an academic setting tends not to bother with any of that stuff.  Java is still one of the most popular languages, and I actually ran into people who could program well in it, but had a lot of serious issues stepping backward into C++ and Assembly.  Java apparently skims over a number of lower-level concepts in favor of an easier programming structure, but that makes understanding and using those concepts in other languages a bit more difficult.

Oh, and if anyone reading this has plans on taking programming as a serious line of study, my biggest piece of advice is to study as much MATH as you can.  Personally, I found it a little on the ridiculous side how much math I had to take in school for my CS degree, but them's the rules.  At a four-year university, expect to take math through Calculus 4 and to have to take at least one class in Discrete Mathematics (Information theory, set theory, logic, etc.).  Start your preparations early   :o

Yeah I saw that, I think Joe dumped them from a set he got himself?  I'll have a look.
Please don't worry, I didn't think you  were rude but I hope you are ok as well.

I dumped the programs off of a different tape.  I have the same book that you have, though.
