Adventure Island IV plastic case?

Hey everyone. Quick question about a listing I just saw on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADVENTURE-ISLAND-4-NES-Famicom-JPN-/120970025040?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item1c2a601850

The listing is for a "complete" copy of Adventure Island IV for Famicom. I use scare quotes because I'm not quite sure the box displayed is actually original. I've probably seen more than 20 complete copies of this game on various auction sites over the years and when I traveled to Japan, and all of them had a regular white cardboard box. This one seems to include a clamshell case instead.

So I'm wondering if any of you know for sure whether the case is a reproduction, or if somehow there was a different release for this game that had a hard case instead of the cardboard boxes used for most Famicom titles (which I find extremely unlikely).

Thanks. Feel free to move this thread to the Auction subforum if you think that's where it goes.

You are bang on, it's a printed sleeve in a Namco case.  I expect the seller knows, he seems pretty familiar with these games.

It's also overpriced, even if it was legit:

Are you sure its a Namcot case? it looks like it maybe one from a one of those from 100+ game mult carts, Koei game ( also left to right) or variants Tatio games. Namcot and also Sunsoft clam shells look more like a book this looks like the black plastic is flush

also it opens like a mega drive game clam shell from right to left instead of left to right.  some Tatio games are only one that I know of that does that but I could defiantly be wrong.

either way that case is not original. The only games that I can think of that had both cardboard and plastic case variants was Mega drive/Genesis games when they first started releasing cardboard boxes for games

Yeah it probably isn't a Namco case, it's just the usual choice so I jumped to the conclusion.  You're right, probably KOEI.

I see. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Maybe that's why he gives the box a 4-star rating, haha. I've never seen this seller rate something as 4/5 before unless the item had obvious wear, so maybe that's his way of letting us know.

I kind of expect resellers to overprice everything, and in the case of this guy,  apply filters to their pictures to make the items appear better than they look in reality, but they're usually good about making sure the stuff they're selling is authentic. With a shop called "Game Collectors Paradise", and a product description that states the items are genuine/original, you'd think he would be more honest about things like that.

By the way, aside from Namco, Sunsoft, and Taito, can you guys think of a company that published licensed Famicom games in hard cases? I really can't think of one.
