Video Games have the worst fanbases ever/

I hate pretty much everything that has to do with video game fans. Why? NINTENDO IS DOOOOOMED. CONSOLES ARE DOOOOOOMED. SONY IS DOOOOMED. MICROSHIT LOLOL. And so on.

Take the latest Nintendo Direct for example. Here are a few of the things announced, and the community's reaction to it.

- Miiverse coming to smartphones in spring
ABOUT TIME THEY ANNOUNCED THAT AT E3

- Virtual Console launching in spring, trial starting now
ONLY NES AND SNES THEY ARENT PUTTING ANY OTHER GAMES ON

- Wind Waker remake
WORST ZELDA GAME EVER LOOK AT ALL THE BLOOM

- 3D Mario + Mario Kart at E3
LOL SUPER REHASH BROTHERS

- New Yoshi game
LOOKS LIKE KIRBYS EPIC YARN IT WILL SUCK

And the list goes on. And it's for every company, franchise, and console. Is this the only hobby where people are so negative?

Also I've seen people comparing the new Yoshi game to Little Big Planet, saying Nintendo copied Sony. Yet that new Yoshi game has the same style as Yoshi Story on N64. Dumb people.

To be fair I do think the Virtual Console news is particularly disppointing, but let's see what it brings.  I will buy a Wii U at some point, but I just can't see that being until a new Zelda comes along and a new 3D Mario.  

As for Wind Waker, it's a brilliant Zelda, better than OoT in my opinion, but Dolphin already does that now for free and better even, so that news is quite lacklustre to me.

Not tempted by yarn, Mario Kart or Miiverse.  To be honest the kind of thing that will get me to buy a WiiU is a new Zelda game, new 3D Mario, new Mother, new Smash Bros, new Donkey Kong, new Starfox, basically new Nintendo IP and enhanced games I missed out on from PS3/360.

Until those land on shelf I don't feel any desire to put down £100, let alone £200.  Though, I don't see the point in throwing that out there as flamebait etc.

How so? The range of games? I'm sure the the list of consoles it supports will grow. Everyone is whining about the extra dollar you pay upgrade from the Wii to the Wii U version of the VC games. That argument is completely outlandish. The dllar goes to the extra features you get with the upgrade. It's no cash grab.

Not to be rude, but did you watch the Nintendo Direct? It's not Wind Waker in 1080p, it's a remake of Wind Waker. New engine, graphics, tweaked gameplay, etc.

People being made to pay for games they already bought again as VC games is pretty ridiculous to be honest, it's not surprising.  
Imagine if you had to pay every time you downloaded an update to an app, or downloadeed an app to a new phone?

Screens of remake didn't look all that to be honest.  Remade texture maps sure, don't see what is remade other than a menu screen on the tablet.
Graphics don't look new either.  Compare this:

Art Direction on WiiU is better (done by professional industry artists) but the scope comes across as lazy, no wonder people pick faults.

New Mother "LOL" why exactly?  Long overdue AND asked for AND a clear way to bring fans back which is what Nintendo need to do.  It's not rocket science.  My guess is Itoi's just working on something else.  No I don't mean the Mother 3 port.

This whole thread comes across as a fanboy rant - I'm not fussed either way but don't act surprised at people's reactions, they're to be expected and it's up to Nintendo to predict and manage that.  Entitled games fans are horrible but I don't see the point in making excuses for what seem like pretty obvious knee-jerk reactions.  If that's exactly what you don't like, rise above it?  Why complain and be the flipside of the coin yourself on what is at the end of the day still a Nintendo forum?  It's hypocritical but amusing as an example of exactly what you're complaining about

But they're not paying for it again. They bought it for the Wii, they can still have it on their Wii. Or they can transfer it to the Wii U and have it in the menu-within-a-menu. Or they can pay an extra buck and get the game with new features on the Wii U menu. A dollar for off-tv play, button-mapping, and miiverse integration sounds rather excellent.

lol because Itoi said he was done with Mother. As far as he's concerned, 3 was the end. I would be happy with Earthbound on Virtual Console. Especially is they put Mother and Mother 3 on there.

I think a dollar for thsoe features is silly, Nintendo would be better off taking the hit and getting people used to downloading more.  
People will feel stung to have to pay again, again and I don't blame them.

Yeah those screens are nice, but it's just new lighting and a few new textures.  I guess you're easily pleased but a lot of people ahve already seen WindWaker and Skyward Sword in HD, why would they be rocked by it?  It's a gentle upgrade not a remake.  Don't get me wrong it's not bad, it's just not wowing if youi've done dolphin.  If the aim was to wow, this isn't how to do it.  New gameplay will be probably a couple extra minigames, new tweaks will be bugfixes and camera, it jut doesn't make me feel like I need a WiiU or anything like that.

To build up an awesome franchise like Mother and then not do any others is not good business.  This isn't an indy arthouse, so that logic is ass.  
Imagine if we heard "No more Zeldas because 'we're done with it' after Skyward Sword" - that's LOL.  
If you run a business and you have a good way to make money in the short and longrun, a good idea is to probably continue doing it.

Don't get the bold type (habit?) - all on one system great, but not exactly cause for excitement.  I have all Nintendo games ever one one system already...

I don't think we're getting the same message here. Just because Dolphin can put out a cleaner picture doesn't mean that the remake (yes, a remake) is uncalled for. I also don't agree with your definition of a remake. Pretty much every remake in history meant better graphics. Anything else is bonus. Do you not like remakes altogether? And I'm not saying that jaws should drop, I'm saying people should be happy. Also, a remake is not a system seller. That should be clear. It is not intended to be. It was said in the ND that it's a stop-gap between now and when Zelda Wii U comes out.

So Itoi is lying. On the other hand, your logic is "They'll make more because they should!"

Lastly, the bold is my excitement for my far-fetched idea that a series that has been abused in North America could possibly see a release of all three games on one console. Are you aware of the following Earthbound has, and how disappointing it is to keep seeing the series get shunned for various reasons? All the petitions, letters, et cetera. I apologize if  BOLD FONT offends you.

All on one system? I'm sure you paid for those...

It's not a remake.  It's SMB3 on SNES, BS Zelda, or more accurately OoT on 3DS.  It's not a remake. 
It's no Castlevania X68000, or Dragon Quest on DS, or Outrun.

A remake isn't just graphics, that's just redone graphics.  In this case, redone some of the graphics.  Hardly a remake.  I won't try and stop you telling yourself it's a remake, but that's why people would have expected more.

For Mother, I didn't say they WOULD make more, just that common sense says they should.

Then what name would you give it? Enhanced port doesn't work since it's not a port, and other than that, I don't know what else to call it. Just ripping the definition of remake from dictionary.com:

A movie or piece of music that has been filmed or recorded again and rereleased.

A video game that has been developed again and rereleased. Wind Waker. Remake.

It's not a remake, they improved the lighting and some textures, it's not remade, it's an improved port.  Like I said call it what you want, it's up to you how you want to see it, but you're acting surprised at people's reactions, when its pretty expected.

Not a problem.  I think I'm a bit temperamental lately, didn't mean to derail your thread.  
I think a common rule is vote with your dollar, if you don't like news, don't throw a tantrum just to soil what others are enjoying.
I myself find it underwhelming, but if it appeals to the right people, those not interested shouldn't really care.  

I may still buy a WiiU in time, let's see what E3 brings

I'm a Nintendo fanboy. I won't deny that. But the ND gave me a bit to be excited about, and it's sad to see that video game fans specifically like to shit all over what other people like. I loved Wind Waker, it would be good to play through it again with extras.  On 2nd quest it seemed only the clothes were different
