Do I Need A Top Loader Adapter For The Game Genie?

I'm having a hard time finding an affordable Famicom Game Genie, so I'm eventually going to get an NES one and use the 60 to 72 pin adapter that I got with my 42 in 1 cart. I have a top loading Retron 3 for my NES/Famicom games, and I've been using it to play my Famicom Dr. Mario cart through the pin adapter. My question is, do I need the 'top loader adapter' to plug my NES/Famicom games and the Game Genie into my Retron 3? Can't I just remove the black flap you need for the NES console or take out the SNES and Genesis games that are in the system right now and let the flap bend into the front of my system? I'm okay either way. I was just wondering.

Sorry if I'm asking what seems like silly questions, but until my Retron 3 that I got at a convention 2 years ago, the last time I'd played an NES game on the original system, with the original carts, was in the early to mid '90's, and until I got the Retron, the only Famicom cart I'd ever used was a cousin's 31 in 1 with a pin adapter, and I thought it was just a funny looking NES game his dad had gotten overseas.

for a clone i am not sure as I don't own any of them but I would assume so.

for the NES toploader you definitely do.  I WILL fit in there and then ruin the connector forever as I have never seen aftermarket replacements you will have an NES101 that will load games about as frequently as a "toaster" that is dirty.
