apparently I lost my four hours of data in emerald 

I notice that it has a friggin' battery in it and now I'm not sure if I acidentally turned it off while it was saving or if the stupid battery ran out.  Anyone know how long GBA games batteries last? The game was made in 2005 so it shouldn't be dead yet

They usually last years and years. Some just go bad though.  Don't worry, if you have the tools to open one up, the batteries are really easy to replace, since you can just use a regular ol' watch battery.

If it was a pirate cart it'd get the save screwed up quite easily.

It's easy to notice by the transparent cart colour and at the bottom.

FIFA Street much better than Urban Freestyle Soccer. Playing football matches in non-official grounds is so kewl, lol.
