Levels go as far as you can get.
I for instance got up to level 20 with 202 lines when I remember right.

I'm also a bit confused.

I'm talking about A mode in Tetris. The "normal" Tetris, not the Tengen version.
There I erased 202 lines to get to ultra-fast level 20.

In B mode the highest I could beat was Level 12 Height 5 I think when I remember right...


To select levels higher that 9 I think you have to hold "select" while pressing start for confirmation. Level 0 becomes 10, 1 becomes 11 and so on.
