Yes, if the system is sorta expensive and the games are cheap; I will try to build up a collection then aim for the system.

Just won an auction for a CIB Master System with 27 CIB games, everything in excellent condition.
Price was a bit more expensive than expected, because a second bidder came in, but I think I made a relatively good deal.

Or so I thought!
The a**hole deleted my bid because "3 or 4 carts aren't working". Hah! I even told him I wouldn't mind if some aren't working. But no response at all. I think the price was way under his expectations. I wonder if I have a way to complain to yahoo about this... s*cker.

I was suspecting something fishy about the cartridges - those are pretty rare!

I also figured that some of the carts were quite rare and/or valuable, so basically I really wouldn't have cared if some didn't work, because everything was in so good condition.

I could have, but since i have my super battlestation (genesis+32x+sega cd), i didn't find a point. I got real lazy and taped some solder on the pads!

Depends on the game. Post 1992 games youll need the mod.
