Sweet, thanks! :) I just tested it out with a power strip (since the prongs are directly connected to the machine), and it works exactly like it's supposed to.  It's pretty cool just to mess with, but it'll be even cooler when I can actually play a game on it. :star:

DIY  instructions at the bottom from the looks of it! ;)
A gameboy oscilloscope tabletop arcade would own so hard it would not be possible to play and and live  :mario:
That is really awesome! I wish I had the skills to do something like that.  It would in no way be beneficial, but it'd be really freakin' cool. ;D

Oh, and here's a picture!

Looks promising.  :cherry:

Most of the Famicom games here I got from Amazon.jp.. The quality defined as acceptable surpassed all expectations and all were cheaper w/ shipping than I could find in any stores locally (well, Tom Sawyer looked like it was fished out of a grapejuice river, but that's the only poor quality cart, and it works).  I really should have been doing this from the start.  I would have saved ... a lot .. of money and gotten many more boxed copies.  Although, I gotta admit there's a thrill in going on an adventure and discovering some awesome loot.   Occasionally, it's super loot that could only be found in person.....   That Metroid was 100yen.  Don't know if it works, but wow, lucky!

The Famicoms are junk.  One works without sound, the other won't boot up a game. Hoping I can mess with them later and try to fix them though right now I have virtually no knowledge on the matter.

Nice heap!

How does Amazon.jp compare to Yahoo Auction?

Well on Amazon.jp, you just buy whatever is for sale.  You don't have to worry about being outbid.

I might have mentioned it in another thread, but that Bionic Commando was around 800yen including shipping. That's outrageously cheap.. Not only is it rather rare to find available, but when I have seen it even as a loose cart it was 3000yen and a mess.  Most of the games I ordered cost from 1yen to 300yen plus about 340yen shipping.  This is in many cases half the price for what you'd get it in a typical retro game shop, from my experience.

I've never personally used Yahoo auctions, because signing up, bidding, and paying appeared extremely complicated for me..  With Amazon.jp I just browsed through the 50 or 60 pages of results for 'ファミコン' in the famicom section, threw everything I wanted into the cart, and payed for it with my Amazon.com Visa card  (or you could use any other credit card I'm sure)..  There's also no monthly fee or anything.

I highly recommend it!

edit:  Just the other day I made another order of about 10 or maybe 11 games I still need, and received 8 of them today!  I don't even expect some of these to come in boxes, but a good number of them are.

It seems nice but I suspect you could get games cheaper at Yahoo., if you're lucky and patient enough... good price on Hitler no Fukkatsu though.

But it doesn't look the sellers on Amazon ship outside Japan, so I'll have to continue with my bulk-buying (provision is always per item, no matter if the package contains one game or 100).

Have you had a look at rakuten?

And speaking of rare games, have you managed to find Che Guevara? How about Castlevania, Gimmick and Hebereke?

I recently got some of the recent purchases home, by the way. Including the astrology game I mentioned earlier. It's quite beautiful, so I'll keep it.  :D I also got the game Kung Fu and have put it up for auction, let's see if anyone wants to buy.

A boxed copy of Zelda no Densetsu (the cart version) also arrived and that might sell for a nice sum. Not super-rare, but certainly not common, and Zelda collectors are devoted...

Could be, but I don't have the time to be patient, I'm going back to the US veery soon  :blinky:

No, haven't tried Rakuten.  Is this for people who are outside of Japan?  Just browsing the first 10 pages of 'Famicom' and the prices seem okay, but most of the prices are on par or a little higher than what I've seen at the stores.  Maybe I'll use this when I go back home.  How do you do international bulk buying?

I've seen Guevera at stores for really high prices, but no loose cart.   There's a loose cart on Amazon.jp right now starting at 2730yen including shipping.. That's pretty good, I'd wager.

Castlevania is a rather expensive one... Haven't really found a good deal on that one yet  :-\.   Hebereke I picked up loose for 2800yen、though I see it on Amazon.jp right now for a few bucks cheaper.  Doh.

Still not sure what to do about Bio Miracle Bokutte.   ???

tappybot:

Yesterday Hebereke went for 2,300 yen on YHJ - complete. ;) I thought about placing a max of 5,000 or so, but it's not a priority right now.... + commission and domestic shipping makes buying single games expensive..

The prices on Rakuten come from different sellers, like amazon I think. There's a cheaper Guevara for example.

With bulk buying I simply mean to buy a package of many games.   100, or 50, or so...

Buh!  :o   Well if I was staying in Japan longer I'd check it out.  The thing is I have no idea how to send money to different banks, have limited communication skills, and I hear if you spend too much money on there they end up charging you monthly fees..   If it had paypal support I'd be all over it.
