That boxed copy of Super Mario Land 2 is gorgeous.... without a doubt, my favorite Mario game ever.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Look at the + and - buttons, and the cable coming out of the bottom ::) Some of the changes I wrote about here: http://techsquid.blogspot.com/2012/02/21712-find-how-prototypical.html

I believe so.

No, I'm fairly sure that this particular unit was made pre-wii launch, so no motion plus.

Pikkon

If you could open your proto wii remote and take some pics of the internals that would be awesome, also Im waiting for L_E_T to chime in to give us exactly what this remote was used for.

I'll see if I have a tri-wing screwdriver...

Anyway, the guy who sold it to me says he thinks they came from Activision. Someone else who has an NDEV said there's a port on it labelled BT and accepts the kind of plug on the wire, and was for a wired bluetooth connection. It was apparently used for testing multiple remotes in a close range and prevented wireless interference.

Let me say that I'm 90% sure that this is a prototype. I don't think Nintendo would still be ordering parts for prototype hardware after the final design has been agreed on.

This arrived for me today, won it with a $5 bid on YHJ.

Pretty chuffed that it's complete, all bagged and in great condition. Something I've always wanted in my collection but not something I was willing to spend a lot of money on, so am glad I got a lucky deal.

Sega Karaoke addon unit! Nice. There is one near a store near me but not in this great of condition. It has everything BUT the box. Not as clean though as yours. Definitely a nice find. Now get singing and put those vids up on youtube! haha

manuel

Yeah, the unit pictures above was probably never used.

Probably not, as the software CD is still sealed as is the AV patch cable.

Unfortunately it probably never get used due to the online servers shutting down in 2006 - this device requires you to pay for a subscription service and download songs, it doesn't actually store any of this data locally either.

I doubt anyone will hack it and come up with an alternative solution as not many people have them and it would be hard to reverse engineer, due to the hardware not actually doing anything until instructed by the special SEGA server.

fredJ

won this today. What to do with it?

I already have two.
Selling  Japanese games in Sweden since 2011 (as "japanspel").

manuel

Haha, I know those!
A store near me had about 30 of them in the bargain bin for 50 Yen and nobody bought them.  ;D
Eventually they were gone, though. I wonder if they threw them on the trash...
