Yeah, I've never even seen Sakigake Otokojuku, but I looked up a gameplay video and just adored that HnK-esque artstyle. Fine taste as always, Stealth.

Thanks

Yes, the brown shipping boxes are just as exciting as the contents lol

Yeah I miss the anime style of that era. By the way there's also a famicom game for the series too:

Nice loots :d love those old Konami LCD games - they were huge I remember a Ninja turtles one.

I have that LOK2 sales poster as well, but is that a 3rd Strike cassette tape I see??

Those tapes are known as "Capcom Friendly Club Style" tapes from the 90s. Basically a video magazine that goes over the happenings over at Capcom. Really cool tours of the Capcom offices, the making of commercials, tours of the music facilities... all sorts of neat stuff.

More stuff from the recent haul

Oh my god, that Keio Flying Squadron 2 poster is amazing. What are the odds, I was just about to post my recent additions. I finally got back into Japanese Saturn games, via the Action Replay cart, and it just so happens one of the games I got along with it is...

And then I got these.

And finally for the 3DO.

Edit: Wow, didn't even see that copy of Ganryu. Nice, I'm still so bitter that game never got ported to any consoles.

We're in sync! Keio 2's a really nice and polished game. Congrats! Those action replay ram carts are great. That was my main way to play all the cool snk or capcom ports in the 90s. Yeah Ganryu was actually only ever released on MVS (arcade format). The one in the pic is a homecart conversion. In fact the entire bottom row are special conversions of MVS only titles. Homecart versions are called AES.

On a side note... mailman dropped off some small packages today  ;D

Oh nice, you got Chrono Phantasma! Really cool extras. But yeah I remember playing Ganryu in an arcade and  praying it got a home release on Dreamcast or PS1 or something... sure enough, I checked and was devastated to see it's an MVS exclusive. Someday I might save up for a consolized MVS or something, Ganryu is a sweet game. It's a shame a lot of Neo Geo fans complain about it being too basic for the hardware, saying it's like "an NES game with Neo Geo graphics". How the hell is that a bad thing? An ACTION game being reminiscent of the NES, where ACTION games were arguably at their finest? ...But I digress.

Yeah, I wish there were more games like Ganryu on the Neo. It's kind of like their take on a Ninja Spirit/Ninja Gaiden type action platformer. A Shinobi-like title would have been awesome too. Though it kind of makes sense... in the decade the Neo was alive and kicking, those types of arcade games weren't very popular anymore like in the 80s.

By the way, nice pickup on the YuYu Hakusho for 3DO. That game and the Sailormoon fighting game were the ones that peaked my interest in import 3DO games. I remember briefly seeing them running in a game shop overseas in the 90s. It's just a shame there aren't too many import games on the 3DO at all beyond maybe 5-10 worth tracking down imho. Eye of Typhoon is a cool cancelled NeoGeo fighting game... but it's incredibly rare and was only available in Korea.

Nightstar699

Yeah, the Neo Geo seems perfect for fighting game/shoot 'em up fans, but leaves very little choices in terms of platforming.

Thanks, it just so happens Sailor Moon was the very reason I purchased my 3DO... alongside the great ports of SSF2T and Samurai Shodown. Any other 3DO imports you'd recommend? The only one left on my wanted list is Puzzle Bobble. Eye of Typhoon looks great, but yep, it's a shame about its rarity, so I doubt I'll ever find a copy. Do you have the Hori fightpad for 3DO? They're pretty tough to find but I got lucky purchasing mine along with my 3DO system. Really great controller for fighting games, I'd say its just a step below the Saturn pad in terms of quality.

Also, I did win a game on eBay last night, which I've been trying to find CIB for a while now. I'll post a picture when it arrives, I'd guess you're familiar with it, given our similar taste in games.

The 3DO Hori pad is pretty neat, congrats! I don't have one yet. For fighters I use that Panasonic joystick. It's pretty good. They also make SNES to 3DO adapters at Tototek for $18. There's a "slightly more" official one too. Then there are ps1 to 3DO adapters (nice for the Hori Real Arcade Pro joysticks). Back in the 90s, a kid in my neighborhood had a giant custom 2 player 6 button panel for the 3DO to play Super SF2 Turbo. It was made of real arcade parts down to the laminate and t-molding. Think of a MAS Supergun joystick, but a 2 player panel. It was pretty awesome playing SSF2T on that thing.

Besides what you mentioned, for "good" import only good games... not much....

- Ultraman Powered is kinda interesting if you're into Ultraman
- Policenauts
- Crayon Shinchan puzzle game (kinda like Puyo Puyo)
- Furopon World Warp (another puzzle game)
- Royal Pro Wrestling by Natsume (pretty good!)

Speaking of Eye of Typhoon, check this out!  :o Never thought I'd see a picture of the box!
