Thanks Nightstar699, I get nostalgic just looking at it. The guy on the shirt is G-Mantle, the original mascot for the NeoGeo before Terry Bogard of Fatal Fury. He makes little cameos in a lot of their games. I believe the drawing itself was taken from some issue of NeoGeoFreak magazine.

Saturn was also the shmup successor to the PC-Engine... lots of shmup goodness there. There's also a decent amount of side scrolling beat'em ups. Then a handfull of nice action platformers. All the genres I've mentioned are also 2D pixel/sprite based not 3D polygon stuff. In the early to mid 2000s lots of gamers were going gaga over import Saturn collecting  ;D I think it's died down now and everyone's all gaga over JPN SFC, MD, PC-Engine, famicom and arcade stuff.

picked this up a few weeks ago. not an amazing find but still pretty cool

$4.99 at thrift store :diskkun:

I am a big Nintendo fan! especially GameBoy, N64, SFC, GC. And of course Mario games
I collect SFC/N64 mainly. Some rare famicom stuff too. Also miscellaneous video game stuff.

Oh, nice. It's been ages since I've found anything Fami(com/clone) related locally.

It all makes sense now! I'll have to look out for him next time I play KOF 2000. I've wanted to get into PC-Engine for a while now, mainly since I'm just dying to play Ninja Spirit. The problem is, every time I get money I'm always distracted by various other games I want, sooo... I've put off on the PC Engine for a real long time now. Maybe someday, for now I'm just really into Saturn and SFC.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

I agree on the Saturn comment... The problem here is that non-Japanese got such a limited game library that the system became regarded as a loser-system. Another problem is that so many of the best games are hard to find. Like recently when I had fun with Three Dirty Dwarves that I had never hard about before.

When I ask myself why I don't like the PS1 library as much it is because it was so flooded with games, many of which are surprisingly uninspired.

I recommend Ninja Spirit! It's a wonderful game and one that I think Nightstar would like!

The thread you guys were posting in got my interest. Very informative, thanks!

I keep reading about the GB Boy and the screen looks great as you say, but it isn't fully compatible with all games, has some sound issues, and I don't like how the D-pad looks. I'll stick to my GBC for now. Just need a good lamp.
Usually I play GB with my Super Game Boy anyways. :)

Incidentally, a few days ago my colleague sent me a custom frontlighted GBC (original, "berry") that I should try out.

Am impressed by everything other than the N8 Everdrive Deluxe..  It's a lot extra for a case and paper.

You can still get my Konami shell if you like! :D

Yeah the GB boy sounded interesting and it was cheap. There are lots of other ways to play original GB/GBC nicely. Eventually I want to get one of those Rose Colored Gaming custom GBs and GBAs. Very, very nice.

I'm not into "do it yourself" type of projects anymore. I just want to buy something pre-made and nice right out the gate if possible. Reason why it took me so long to get a famicom everdrive. The deluxe's were out of stock for a while.

But hey... I didn't pull the trigger on a Megadrive Everdrive deluxe because I hate the packaging and use of a US Genny cart shell. Would you be willing to customize one for me in a Japanese style cart shell, stick and case insert for a fee?   ::)

Nope, I'll do it for free though (if you send a shell).  I need to do it myself but I keep spending money on other things.

Trouble is, I''ll need the Mega Everdrive PCB to trim the shell, so if you can hang on til I get one I'll do it.

Didn't realise you never picked up a Famicom Everdrive, you won't look back!

Oddly enough, it made me play games a lot more - but actually made me go out and buy a whole bunch of loose carts.  I tend to get really into a game on the ED, then pick up the cart.  I've managed to build up a nice collection of around 100 good carts that way, but there's still a few I'd like.  Trouble is I'm into the expensive ones now like Doropie and Moon Crystal.

When are you planning to get the Everdrive MD?  I may get one instead of a WiiU in May, Retrogate have them in stock I think.  Then I'll just need a loose JP MD cart.

Did you Wiggy's latest GBAs?  SNES and SFC themed!

Love the Hudson bee shirt I'm buying one

Algo Fonix

Finally got a Dreamcast yesterday! I've wanted one since high school, so it's great to finally have one. It's super clean inside and out, aside from a few blemishes. I think it'll play backups, but I don't have a working disk drive to try and burn anything. I need to get more games now...
