I love the Game Gear boxes - I think having a Game Gear is worth it just for Shinobi - but I do think the first is the better - it's more nostalgic for me - but that intro - I watch it again and again and again.
I recently got Game Gear games running on my GB Micro, it really is great for these games and frames the artwork so nicely.  Funny to play them that ultra-portable way :)

Checked out Mystical Fighter - it looks like a generic PC Engine game but I really like the music and the character design.  That one's new to me I'll check it out in full I think!

Stealthlurker I know how rare that SMD with the Sonic card is...  Nice find!!

Ah, I'm glad to know I've inspired you to check out Mystical Fighter! I think it's quite the underrated beat 'em up on Genesis... but of course, I'm a bit biased, as a lover of the kabuki/edo theme.

G.G. Shinobi I and II are both incredibly well-designed games. I've been a Game Boy fan nearly all of my life, yet the Shinobi titles alone are enough for me to look at the Game Gear as a solid equal to the Game Boy. I find it interesting how most the Shinobi games are completely different from one another, yet G.G. Shinobi I and II both follow such a similar formula... they compliment each other really well, and it makes them almost feel like two halves of the same game.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Stealthlurker I really like the Akumajou VHS - what exactly is that, a playthrough of the arcade version?

Nightstar I also really like that whole theme - wish we had modern games that felt a bit more like that too, but ah well.

GG Shinobi was on of the first games I played on Game Gear - which I got for my birthday when I was around 8 or 9.  I didn't play GG2 till years later   :link:

Well here are some more finds from me to share - picked up some accessories from Rose Colored Gaming

Started the process on my JP Micro:

Managed to snag another modified GBA -

Really happy I managed to get one of each of these as originally hoped, although it was harder than hell.

Also picked up some more GBA CIBs to accompany, love the nice little details on Wario Ware Twisted!

Finally got round o picking up Mother 3:

Love the vector style diagrams on the back and in the manual -

Some more GBA CIBs to add to the batch

I think that's it for a while, totally overspent lately and got in trouble.

Ahh, nice! I really wish I had gotten a Game Gear as a kid, in addition to my Game Boy. But then again, it's really fun getting to discover its greatness now, it's like a whole new library of fun has opened up for me. I've even grown to like Game Gear Ninja Gaiden... as ridiculously short as it is.

Jeez, what an overwhelming lot of finds you have here. Japanese GBA  CIBs is something I've wanted to get into for a while now, I only have a few of them. I primarily want Astro Boy (as you know  ;) ), Double Dragon Advance (it's like $150, WTF) and Final Fight One. Great picks you have there, especially Chu Chu Rocket and the Wario Ware: Twisted. (At least, I assume it's Twisted, unless there was more than one WW  on GBA) And a beautiful GBA Micro to play 'em on... brilliant.

Are there any Japanese GBA games that are worth some coin?  I ask that because on my game hunts, sometimes I still run across CIB GBA games, and unless they are unlicensed games, I pass them by, since the store keepers always ask full (original) retail for them, about $20 - $25 each.  But if there are some titles worth considerably more, I need to start paying attention to this.

There are - Rockman Zero 1 if you can find it in great condition, Ninja Cop if it had a JP version, Mother 1+2 is v expesnive, Mother 3 has just maintained its value.  Rockman EXE 3 Black is another one.  I'd be interested in picking up some via you if it's worth your while.

Thanks for all the nice comments, I really do like the GBA it's a system I'm very fond of and I picked one up at launch with a handful of titles.

The Micro has a better screen and is more portable but nothing beats the comfort of the original - IF you can find a decent backlight.

There are! The first Wario Ware game came out on GBA.

It did indeed and is one of the best!

That along with Rythm Tengoku are two of the standout titles in my opinion.  I also still believe that Minish Cap is the best Zelda handheld title out there.

Shumi Nagaremono

The GBA versions of Mario Bros and Hot Scramble command pretty high prices.

Nightstar699

And, again, Double Dragon Advance. I seriously can't fathom why it costs so much, as apparently it was re-released as a "Greatest Hits" type game, so... wouldn't that infer that there's a lot of copies out there? So why the $150+ price tag? Ah well. I still want it pretty bad.

Hmm I'll check that out.  Hot scramble was a promo release so is very expensive - but why is Mario Bros. expensive?

YES!  I am convinced we like the same style games you know Nightstar :)

I have a brand new Rockman Zero 3 somewhere, but I really want to get some more GBA CIBs next and those 1-4 are first on the list.

Big fan of all of those games - did you unlock the extras on Dracula X yet?  :D
