Ah, yeah, I remember having a few - of course none as awesome as that SS-themed one. Also I'd say I got a decent deal on Ryuukenden GB. It was about $60, and I would have gladly paid $100 for it so I have no regrets!

That's a great deal actually! Mine ran me we'll over a $100  :(  Congrats!

The Wind Rises seems to get some flack from the mainstream. It's also Miyazaki's last Ghibli film he had some participation in before he retired....

However, about 2 weeks ago I watched the live action movie "Eternal Zero". A big budget 2013 Japanese movie that follows 2 siblings researching their grandfather who turned out to be a skilled WW2 Zero fighter pilot. Its based on a popular book. Was pleasantly surprised by this movie... watching The Wind Rises after it made it so much more enjoyable imho.

Yeah, there are people who are upset that Frozen won best animated film at the Oscars. I haven't watched Frozen, but from what I've seen, I don't think it's my kind of movie.

Anyway, now you got me interested in Eternal Zero. ??? I guess I'll watch that too. ;D

Oh man you have to watch Spirited Away!

I saw Spirited Away. In fact, I made a list of all these Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki/Takahata films I saw on a collection DVD while I was taking a Japanese language class ;D:

-My Neighbor Totoro
-Whisper of the Heart
-Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
-Only Yesterday
-Porko Rosso
-Kiki's Delivery Service
-Pom Poko
-Princess Mononoke
-Laputa: Castle in the Sky
-Grave of the Fireflies
-Spirited Away
-On Your Mark (short)
-Ocean Waves
-Howl's Moving Castle

So I know I still haven't seen Ponyo, and then there's My Neighbors the Yamadas. :P

Okay, so I found this but was not able to acquire it.

We're looking to relocate an office, so I was along for a trip to a building that used to belong to a local newspaper.  I'm wandering around looking at whatever stuff they had left behind.  Lots of old tech in the basement.  Tons of wires.  In one utility closet, there was box with a bunch of miscellaneous binders in it.  In the back of it I glance a black binder with a red Nintendo logo on it.  I grab it and there's a label affixed to the cover: 1991 Nintendo Press Kit.

:o

I only had a moment to leaf through it.  I opened it up and the first thing that caught my eye was a brochure for the NES "Hands Free" controller.  At that point I knew I was holding a real Nintendo press kit.  I flipped through it only briefly.  1991 seemed almost too new because of all the NES and Game Boy stuff in it.

I seriously contemplated stealing it, but didn't.  I really hope we get this office now, though, since I called dibs on the press kit ;D

Amaaaaaaaaazing finds Julius :D

Actually, the Sonic 3 Complete repro was made by an anonymous gentleman on this forum - I am eternally grateful for all the repros he's made me and I asked for this extra one to gift to a friend.

I think my favourite find out of these is this:

Same artwork as from the NG3 box and handbill - the anime OVA movie is actually pretty good, I watched it several years ago.

Have you tried out the Famicom ASCI stick yet?  How des it feel in comparison to a cab stick for example?

Finally, I wanted to ask if you'd tried out the Famicom Writer and cart?  We could really use some more inf about how this thing works and to what extent, i.e. what games it works with :bub:

Here are a few games I am looking for right now
Super Puzzle Fighter II X (Sega Saturn)
GeGeGe no Kotarou (Sega Saturn)
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Sega Saturn)
KiKi KaiKai (PC Engine) (CIB)
Puzzle Bobble (Super Famicom) (CIB)

@LET

Thanks man and thanks for the repro. I loooove it!

Actually I already had the NG LD, but added the VHS to the mix. I also got the anime OVA flyer, but it's in one of packages lying around here haha. The VHS is fairly easy to find, but the LD is pretty darn rare. Yeah I love the artwork. Also matches perfectly with the GB version.

The ASCII stick is pretty darn good in terms of arcade feel, but not as good as modern arcade sticks or my japanese arcade machines. Still for it's era, it was light years ahead of other sticks out there. I also got some of the Micomsoft sticks in my haul which are also tops in terms of console sticks for the era. I got a boxed one for famicom and another for a platform I forget lol. Will post later.

Unfortunately this fami writer didn't come with a PSU, so until I find a suitable substitute it stays untested.

Yeah, that Ninja Ryukenden VHS is my favorite find of the lot too. Surprisingly huge box, makes me think there'd be something else included in the package. That OVA artwork is absolutely gorgeous, I also love it on my GB Ninja Ryukenden... and NGIII, of course.

The Mega Drive lot is also great, wise choices on your part. I've never had any interest in repros but seeing that "Beneath the Clouds" boxart, plus looking up a video of it in action is seriously tempting me. Another find I liked in particular was this:

Is that... a manual for a gameplay VHS? That is wicked cool. Even though I'm not too big on the original Ninja Warriors, it did give birth to my second favorite SFC game ever so any piece of merch from the series appeals to me. Pretty awesome.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Nice Famicom SP. I really like the Famicom Micro, I wish I had one of them.

Shumi Nagaremono

Love that Famicom stick!

Pikkon

Got some pal games not to long ago, funny thing is I found The Brainies at my local record shop for 12 bucks.

And here is a Terranigma repro patched to ntsc,I did everything except burn the chip as I lack the equipment.

The label was a bitch to do,it's far from perfect but fine for me.

A few Book-Off grabs this weekend.
