Those are absolutely lovely, FredJ. I would have gladly purchased them for 55 a piece had I have been there. Perhaps I'll keep an eye out for them.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Yesterday, I bought a Gameboy Light off of eBay; its the silver one. When it arrives in about a week Ill add a picture to this posting.

Dang, it has yet to arrive...
I sent an email to the seller, he said "Sorry, I just shipped it earlier today."

Sometimes sellers can be so obnoxious, he had it "Buy it now!" where you need to pay the moment you press buy. Yet, he doesn't even ship it til nearly 2 weeks after I pay.

What an awful seller. I could understand taking a few days to ship, but almost 2 weeks later? That better have been free shipping...

There are junk stores around me.
The only problem is, when they don't know how to price something, they price it high and not low like in senseiman's favorite store.  :'(
And they don't put hings in the "junk" bins. They have a Master System that has been there for over 5 years and the price hasn't changed even once. (11800 Yen by the way.)
I visit my local shops once a week and only sometimes I make half-decent finds.

Please don`t hate me, but 11,800 yen?  This is a very funny coincidence because guess what I just picked up at Omocha Souko:

CIB and the console is in pristine condition.

I paid WAY less than 11,800 yen.  Trust me, you really don`t want to know how little I paid. ;D

damn, thats sweet! Makes me feel ashamed how much i paid for my MarkIII xD I recommend tracking down an FM Sound Unit and an SMS to MarkIII Converter. Trust me, Galaxy Force with FM sound rocks hard*g

Nope, it was $15 shipping. It's coming from Japan but the price does seem a bit to high.

I had one once (Mark III ). It is a beautiful console. A bit rare almost. Not necessarily expensive if you are lucky though.
I think from a usability point of view, it is more useful to buy the US or European version because they have a larger game library. (or am I wrong?)

I could be wrong, but I think Europe has the largest game library. The Master System managed to last all the way to the mid-90s over here with ports of some earlier Mega Drive games being released on it.

the best configuration is if you get a japanese Master System or a Mark III with FM Sound Unit. Together with an EU/US to JP adaptor from Tototek it's the best way to play most of Sega's 8-Bit games. The japanese MS has FM Sound, the 3D adaptor and rapid fire built in. And there are some games with FM sound that never saw a japanese release like Galaxy Force or Wonder Boy- The Dragon's Curse .

Frank_fjs

I picked up a boxed Japanese Master System - I love it.

- Built in FM sound.
- Rapid fire
- Input for the 3D glasses so no need for an adapter, which means I can easily use other brands of glasses such as the Famicom or generic PC ones
- With an adapter it also plays standard Master System games

I recently grabbed a gold Gameboy light from Japan and shipping via SAL was $5 - it arrived in a week.

Japanese R-Type II for Gameboy!
The guy whom sold me my silver GB Light is including R-T 2 as a free bonus for my troubles. :-)

Yay!

This arrived for me today, won it with a $5 bid on YHJ.

Pretty chuffed that it's complete, all bagged and in great condition. Something I've always wanted in my collection but not something I was willing to spend a lot of money on, so am glad I got a lucky deal.

Dreamcast: Wow amazing, how did you find it?

Also, R-Type II is a nice find too, quite rare. :)

Was searching YHJ for miscellaneous retro gear and stumbled across it, it had a 500Y opening bid with no current bids. Asked a friend to place a bid for me and won it. I'm fortunate enough to have a contact in Japan to help with this stuff, as paying for a proxy service kills the price and means you may as well just buy it from eBay.

fredJ

That's amazing, I never find such things *that* cheap....

Here's what I won today. As a collector I needed Snoopy and Pocket Stadium...
