Haha nice finds!
I bougt my Super Gameboy ridiculously overpriced for 50 Yen!

Oh, GEO or an affiliate, right?

This (where I got the Super Gameboy 2) was actually at the GEO affiliate I've gotten some other things before, and while it wasn't in the same section as the retro stuff (which has now been consolidated to a tiny one wall area, it was discounted to 10yen.  I wonder if all their retro stuff is 10 yen now...  If that's the case, you might wanna do a look over your GEO's and see if there's anything remotely interesting.

manuel

I don't remember where I got it.
All the GEOs in my region don't have much retro stuff left unfortunately.

You've got two good game boy games in there too.

That reminds me, if you happen to see game boy games in boxes, I would be interested. If they are cheap.

I'll let you know about the boxed gameboy games for sale when me and my hoard of games make it back home.  Might have a couple I'll be willing to sell or trade.

I'm surprised no one asked about the cucumber game on the very bottom, yet.  The first few times I saw this in the store I couldn't make sense of it.. I thought, oh, it must be some super rare cucumber recipe game...   Not until I actually considered buying it did I notice the cucumber thing is a sticker put over top some other game cartridge, and somewhat recently it seems. The sticker is an advertisement for some cucumber store dated 2009.  Then I decided I should pick it up just for the mystery of it... What could it be,  this secret, mystery game!?

Well I haven't tried it yet, and I might save it till I meet my American friend back home so we can unveil it together...   But my guess is Hydlide Special (white cartridge games usually seem to be crappy.   It was 800yen, so it wasn't a good deal or anything... but the mystery of it.. .I had to have it!

Yes, I'm trying to find Japanese boxed game boy games. Not color ones though.

What is the region code for the cucumber game?

Region Code?

It says ' Qucumbers & ハミリコンピュータ'  Yes, HAMily spelled out in katakana. Wonder if that's suppose to be a food joke or the person whipping this up didn't know how to spell family in katakana. The advert sticker is completely obscuring the original cartridge sticker beneath so I can't give any clues from that.  Ten it also has store times and an email address... cool_as_qucumbers@yahoo.co.jp ... Is that even an expression known to Japanese?  I wonder if a foreigner is behind this.

However, the back of the game is typical, but here's one clue that might help.. The text on the back is red, which isn't uncommon, but there are other white cartridges with blue, or black text so this should narrow it down a bit.  I can tell you right now it's not Doraemon.  If it's not Hydlide, my guess is Final Fantasy... also common and really cheap.

fredJ

Oh right, it is a custom sticker on top of some other game. Interesting. You should play it.

I just bought an oscilliscope from my school's shop teacher for $5. Dunno if it works yet, but if it does, I'm going to attempt the Tennis for Two project. :D

Someone recently hooked up an original gameboy to an oscilliscope.  It looked amazing - it made me want one just for that!!

That looks like a fun project. From what I've read, it sounds like all it requires is a microcontroller, DAC, some components to build the controllers, and an oscilloscope.

Yup. I found a page online that shows all the stuff I need and provides a tutorial to build it. I've never attempted anything like this before, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to follow through with it. If not, I'm sure I'll be able to find someone on here who can!

Cool. I have some experience with programming for microcontrollers (although I see the source code is already provided for this project), so let me know if you need any help.
