Custom spraying grey NES to black?

Has anyone done this with their Nintendo NES?

I'm thinking of buying permanent black spray for the NES when I disassemble it and only spray the box.

Something like this:

But the problem is that the red Nintendo Entertainment System logo on the NES wouldn't stay visible. My NES is like just any other grey (not yellowed, thankfully).

Though, maybe I should purchase an additional NES in case I regret spraying it black on my main NES.

P.S.: The reason is because all of my consoles are black except NES and Dreamcast, also the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player.

I wouldn't do it unless you know someone that works in an auto shop.  You can always apply the NES logo etc. later with decals though.  Google will tell you how to print and apply your own decals.

This guy's black NES looks really cool, part black part grey.

I'll decide what to do based on this as the main example.

If you do decide to go ahead, be sure to lacquer it afterwards, the finish is what will make or break it.  I've always thought a gunmetal or very light grey NES would look awesome, I want to do my own at some point too.

I think that shiny black one you first posted looks pretty sweet. But part of me is always sad when an original NES is repainted from its original colors. I would hope you're only going to do that to one that's already been discolored, especially if you're going to paint it black anyway.

My NES is completely grey and in excellent condition, and these ones are a bit hard to find in this condition so I'll look around the web, buy a yellowed and use that instead.

By the way, can anyone indicate me what's the term (or specific keywords) to look for a sticker saying "Nintendo Entertainment System -
NES Version"

So that I can use it on the modified NES. I'm really eager to go full on with this and it'll be the first console and possibly the last that I do such thing to. Maybe also to Dreamcast.

I was referring to this method:

From the pictures it looked like the NES logo is stencilled though by the way.

Heh, I've always wanted to do this.

The design will have to be improved, but painting consoles seems pretty cool. Only gripe is you won't be able to remove the paint, as acetone melts plastic.

The first black one looks nice. I love the shiny finish.
Half black half gray doesn't really do it for me.

And a FW NES sounds like a great idea!  ;D

I would love to mod an NES like that but it would kinda suck for my NES games. If I ever get a 2nd NES for sure will too load mod and custom paint it!

Do it!  I am starting to really dig all of the custom painted consoles after browsing for some photos online.

It is only a matter of time before I take the plunge myself.  Good luck.

Neo Geo stuff, NES/Famicom games IN BULK

I have an NES that the shell is broken on so I might do one myself! I have a cousin who does custom automotive airbrushing so I might pick his brains but automotive paint tend to be enamel based which is not so great for plastics especially old plastics!
