As someone who has a relitvely small collection of Famicom games I'm always looking for new (well, old) Famicom games to sink my teeth into.

What specific games would you guys recommend that every Famicom owner should have and are unique to the Famicom/Disk System? I mean the uniquely Japanese games games that never made it overseas.

Before anyone mentions it, I already own Super Mario Bros. 2 for FDS. If you could provide imagery, the game genre and a small discription of the game as well as its title that would be greatly appricated.

Cheers.

Akumajou Special, Gekitotsu Yonku Battle, Joy Mecha Fight, SD Hero Soukessen, and Splatterhouse.

Doki Doki Panic, Nazo no Murasamejou, Vs Excitebike, Ai Senshi Nicol, Arumana no Kiseki, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, Akumajou Dracula, Super Lode Runner 1 + 2, Kaettekita Mario Bros., Otocky, and Smash Ping Pong and are, imo, all the must have games for the Disk System that weren't released elsewhere except Akumajou Dracula (but the save function is essential) and Doki Doki but it's just cool to have the original.

I agree with kris, but i'd add metroid and kid icarus for the saves and better music

yeah, i was gonna say them but figured they weren't quite as essential since they have the passwords anyways, but they are nice to have as well.

Curious thing, I have Smash Ping Pong in cartridge form. The pirate ripped it from the disk and they erased the game logo (but they keeped Disk-Kun!). It was included on a multicart with 11 ball games like Pinball, Tennis, Double Dribble, Soccer and a few others.

Oh, and you could add Bubble Bobble and Kiki Kaikai for the awesome packaging. And if you like music, Family Composer is fun for a bit.

Hey I just bought Family Composer from you Kris! Too bad there is little to no info on it anywhere in the internet. I'd like to see an FAQ or some sort of guide how you play it. I've since only mettled around with the settings for about 15 minutes.

I'm sure you get this a lot, but I have to say I am overly impressed with your packaging. It really is top notch! and reading the newspapers you wrap the stuff in is an added bonus for me. Helps me practice my japanese reading abilities.

I suppose it would help if I added a list of the games I have already. Sorry I didn't think of it before I guess sometimes I'm an idiot ;D

Okay, heres a list of everything people mentioned so far I don't own. I have some questions regarding each

Bubble Bobble
Akumajou Dracula
Metroid
Kid icarus
Vs Excitebike

Are these games any different from their NES versions beyond the fact that you can save them without passwords? Kris sold me Metroid in a pack of FDS games, but Metroid doesn't work. (it wont boot up) Any advice to get it running?

For all of these, please tell me the genre and what what is it for: FC or FDS.

Kiki Kaikai
Nazo no Murasamejou
Ai Senshi Nicol
Arumana no Kiseki
Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa
Super Lode Runner 1 + 2,
Kaettekita Mario Bros. - What is this? Just simply Mario Bros.?
Otocky
Smash Ping Pong
Gekitotsu Yonku Battle
Joy Mecha Fight
SD Hero Soukessen
Splatterhouse - I would buy it but it always seems to cost more than it should. I'll get it eventually though.
Goonies

Other suggestions are welcome too. Thanks.

Quite demanding. :P

For the first set: HERE.

For the second set. I ain't touching it...too much work. ::)

satoshi_matrix

sorry JC, I don't mean to be demanding anything, I just would like to join the community. Speaking of which, something I asked in another thread: would I be able to submit detailed reviews of pirated games similar to the ones already on the site? I can include high resolution pictures of the cart, gameplay and menus. How could I get such material onto the site?

featherplucknfilms

Bubble Bobble - same but cool packaging
Akumajou, Metroid, Kid Icarus - Save feature, maybe some soundtrack enhancements
Vs Excitebike - Two Player Vs., save custom tracks.

All the other games are basically action games. Kaettekita Mario is still just Mario Bros. but a Japanese only version of it.   You can do google searches and easily find info on most of them.

Yes you can. E-mail them in .zip to me. Be sure what you do fits our general pirate review format -- makes it easier for me.

There are slight differences, not just packaging, such as in the EXTEND screen.
