Well the title states it all, I think.  I just got a twin Famicom with the purpose of being able to play FDS games.  Are there any recommended games?  Exclusives for the FDS only, and stuff like that?  I prefer games that are not heavy on the Japanese text, as I don't read the language.

If you like either shooting or music games, get Otocky.  It's a FDS exclusive by the guy who did Electroplankton.

If you have a 3D system (or even if you don't) I really like Falsion.

Kaette Kita Mario Bros. (Enhanced version of the original Mario Brothers.  Disk Writer only title.  Had in-game ads!)

Just off the top of my head.

Protoman

Ai Senshi Nicol, and if you want to try something strange, Air Challenger Kick Foot.

I second both of these.  Also try the minus world in the FDS version of Super Mario Bros.  It's different:

Nazo Murasame Jo / Mysterious Castle of Murasame - GREAT overhead action game set in feudal Japan with a sci-fi twist, very similar to Zelda.

Ai Senshi Nicol / Love Warrior Nicol - Very cool overhead adventure game in a sci-fi setting, similar to Blaster Master and Startropics.

3D Hot Rally - Very fun official Nintendo racing game with very nice graphics and good music.

Bio-Miracle Bokutte Upa - Sidescrolling action game starring baby Upa! Nothing else like it.

How crucial is the FDS?
I'm considering investing in a Twin Fami but am unsure if its necessary.
Seems the best games made it to the US.

I have the impression that the Twin Fami's AV out has a much better picture quality, with less bleeding, compared to a regular NES.
Though I admit that I hardly used my NES since I have my Twin Famicom, so my memory may be tricking me

To be honest, I purchased by Twin Fami just so I could test out a few unlicensed FDS adult games that I had picked up over the years.  Rarely do I play disks, but I do order them occasionally and am happy to have this option.  For most gamers though, I think that the FDS would not be worth it, as most of the popular games made it onto cartridge format, one way or the other (some FDS exclusives were ported to cart unofficially by pirate companies, some were released in the USA, etc).

If you are really interested in the Famicom and its history though, I would grab a disk system just for the unique and interesting experience it offers. Otherwise, it may not be worth it to any but the most hardcore.

For me FDS is an essential part of my Famicom collection and since I don't have any NES games anymore I needed it to play some of the classics I used to have (Zelda, Kid Icarus etc), since I want to play the Japanese versions, and for FDS exclusives (SMB2j, Ai Senshi Nicol etc).

Zelda II NES version is mostly an improvement over the FDS version while some other games like Kid Icarus are about equally good or better on FDS (better ending on NES but better last stage, sound and saving on FDS). Check those links to see if there are any interesting FDS exclusives (there are quite a few). And don't forget about the potential problems with the drive belt and all that.

Sigh. I clicked on your link and now I'm sad about JewWario all over again.
