Sorry for the VERY late bump, but the amrican Game Genie codes should work for Famicom games. Well, atleast to my knowlage.

It depends on how much the game's prg-rom was modified between the FC and NES releases.  If they don't work, it's usually pretty easy to make a similar code for the other version (if you know what to look for).

JQM: Yeah, a GG plugged into an adaptor plugged into a Famicom cart works, I just tried it. Since all the GG does is change the values of some variables in RAM (# of lives, etc) it works on all games the same way, NES or Famicom, with the same codes.

Should work; yes, the main change to the NES from the Famicom 60 pin cart slot is the addition of a crapton of Security pins and the lack of the audio pass-through signals. GG patches ROM address though rather than editing RAM, like "Action Replay" does. Due to minute differences, and sometimes substantial differences, between US and Japanese versions of games, the location of the byte(s) you are trying to change can vary substantially.

However, you can generate a code relevant to your version of the ROM with some work, it just takes some examining of the Game Genie code and tinkering in a hex editor. Some emulators have cheat-finding features that make this easier, and there are tools available to convert from GG codes to the individual bytes to change, and vice versa. Good luck :D

Realtek != Realtec, unless they changed their name.

I think I'm missing your point.  Check the "Realtec" logo on the GG here:

I was wondering if it was possible took take a FC to NES converter, hook it up to an FC game, plug it into a game genie, hook that up to a NES to FC converter and play it on a famicom?. Im pretty sure that would work, but what about instead of a famicom game, the FDS RAM adapter?

133MHz

Both are possible, although you'd be losing FDS enhanced audio unless you modify the converters, not to mention the contraption with the RAM adapter would be pretty unstable and prone to crashing if you don't prop it up with a couple of books or something. Also you'd need Game Genie codes specifically made for FDS games. Still it's an awesome thing to do just because you can. :P

I wonder what a game genie and Dream Mary would look like  ;D BTW, I'm gonna do the budget dream mary and add a switch so I don't have to buy another cart. I wouldn't mind buying another if it weren't for my overpriced Play N' Trade near me. $20 bucks for a freakin SMB/DH cart!

There is already a Game Genie for the Famicom/FDS... It was released in Japan and looks like a tiny FC cartridge.
