I recently managed to acquire nice boxed copies of Pac-Man and a Xevious. Boxes and carts are in great condition. But there doesn't seem to be any sort of manual inside the box? Is this normal for NAMCO games. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure there should be manuals, and maybe even some advertising in there.

There's manuals to be sure.

Namco released some games in very sweet plastic boxes, those also came with a set of stickers.

afaik old classic namco games were re-released in plastic boxes, but i'm not sure

Thanks guys! These are all the old cardboard namco boxes...and they BARELY have any more room that for just the cart. Are you sure they have a manual included?

P

I've never seen a licensed game that didn't come with a manual. If it's a small manual (earlier games often has very thin and simple manuals) it's usually inside the plastic box bellow the cart.

Ikermel has scanned Xevious' manual and put it on his site. Kind of looks like a fold-out manual?

Ah! You're right!  ;D The manual definitely looks like it would fit inside the box!  :redcart: Thanks a lot P!  :bub: :bub: :pacman:

P is right, they definitively come with manuals. I have a bunch of Namco games in my collection and they all have manuals.

For instance, here is Babel no Tou, and I have included the manual scan in the 'omake' section, at the bottom of the review:

Here are other examples:

And yes, everything is fairly squeezed inside these early Namco games - they came with a manual, a set of label-stickers, a registration card and the cartridge was wrapped inside a small plastic bag. Some even included a small Namco ad :)
