You don't have to be logged in. The forum is separate from the site.

And Jedi, everything has to be in public_html for satoshi to view/download. Anything on that first page is host crap, while public_html is what's viewable on the 'net. I'd have uploaded the scans.zip to your folder, but it's too large for me to download onto my computer and then reupload. :P I tried a drag, but it didn't work.

Jedi Master Baiter

You had to be logged into the ftp for it to work. :P But I moved it into the wrong folder again.

Try it now; it should work: www.famicomworld.com/public_html/scans.zip

satoshi_matrix

Nope. Still get the 404. how do I log into the ftp? I've never heard about that before. ???

JC

We're not giving out the login. :P He just got the link wrong again.

Finally! I was convinced I must've been doing something wrong that I had no idea how the fuck to fix. Many thanks JC.

satoshi_matrix

Hye now that I finally see them, thanka  lot Jedi, this is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Though you provided me with a lot more than I needed, I just need the boxes, not the carts and espically the manuals. You need not strain yourself that much! Do you hae any other boxes? I dont want to look a gift hourse in the mouth, but Galaga and Galaxian are games you can find pretty commonly. Do you have some famicom specific boxes like Fire Emblem 1, Devil World, Getsufuu Maden or something like that?

Jedi Master Baiter

I'll see what I can do; I'll add anything if I get the time.

satoshi_matrix

What else do you have?

Remember, I'm looking for NES boxes as well as Famicom boxes. You dont need to bother to scan the manuals...thats too time consuming.

satoshi_matrix

Just bumping this project in case there is anything anyone can provide.

Okay, big update!

Recently, a large set of Super Famicom and Super NES boxes was on sale on ebay. Members of the cover project were eager to buy the lot, but the price quickly soared to above $600 US and eventually sold for almost $2000. As a result, members opened up the possibility of donations - one could donate money, systems or boxes in order to pool together resources to buy box lots for games that have not been scanned in yet. And once the boxes had been scanned in, they could be re-sold to re-coop some of the money and then that money could be spent on yet more boxes.

You can find the original thread here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=1844.0

So why am I posting this on Famicom World?

Because if there was support from this site as well, we might be able to gather sagnificent intrist in the purchase of Famicom Box art lots. On the Cover Project, there is much much more interest in the US NES Cover Project. Most of the boxart I have I've had to make myself or convert from NES boxart where possible. Donations also support the NES cover project as well as many others.

There may be different opinions on how to strore your Famicom Collection, but I've found that Universal Media Cases are truly great for storage and display. If I can drum up enough intrist maybe we could start seeing major quantities of scanned and useable Famicom covers and really get the Famicom Cover Project ablaze.

As always, I implore those who own CIB Famicom games to please provide 300dpi scans of the front, side and backs of their beloved games. The project only seeks to gather scans for reproduction, you don't need to destroy your boxes at all.

Thats just my two cents. Would any of you be interested in donating to the cause?

JC

Perhaps as we launch the new design we can integrate this into it somehow, so people can submit 300dpi scans of Famicom boxes. I like the project; I just don't buy CIB very often.

satoshi_matrix

Thanks for the supprt JC. The whole point of the project is to provide boxart for everyone because of the point you just made: most of us don't buy CIB games very often.

satoshi_matrix

The real trick to getting the project going is scans.

We need your Famicom box scans! A few of us have quite a few CIB games and we need scans of them! You can scan them with any flatbed scanner, no crushing nessesary! Scans should be at 300dpi and be as streight as possible.

RGB_Gamer

Does there exist some sort of website or archive of a bunch of FDS jewel case artwork scans?

thanks!

These guys have some FDS covers (mostly from popular games). I'm also struggling to find scans for the more obscure games.

www.thecoverproject.net  fixed it... that happens for posting when you have to leave home in a few minutes
