Salamander, developed and published by Konami, is a good game, but certainly unique for one reason: It’s the only Famicom game to be released in a transparent cartridge.
It’s odd to see that even during the promotional stage, when Konami was testing and sending out sample carts, the company put the sample game in transparent carts — blue, different from the green retail release.
Some pirate companies later tried to imitate the transparent cart, with one company releasing red transparent cases for The Goonies pirate.
The Salamander sample cart, as you can imagine because of its uniqueness, sells for quite a lot on the auction market.
