Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima IV, developed and published by Hudson Soft, is best known as the last Famicom game to ever be officially released, in 1994. Here we have a proto of Adventure Island IV, with a couple of screenshots from an auction.
As you can tell, the developers cut open a large, blue Famicom cartridge to fit the development chips inside. That’s a common practice with prototypes, especially seen with NES prototypes.
This proto was listed for sale at around $400, but it never sold for that much. Because the general release of Adventure Island IV is rare, this one would sell for more than most Famicom protos.
